Practical peculiarities and emphases:
New treatment for the treatment of erection problems (erectile dysfunction-ED)
- Penis curvature (IPP-Induratio penis plastica)
- Chronic pelvic floor pain (CPPS)
- Spark Wave® Therapy strong>
What are Spark Waves® and how do Spark Waves® work in genitourinary diseases?
Chronic pelvic floor pain, penile curvature and erectile problems often diminish the quality of life of those affected and also have a negative impact on sexuality and partnership. With this novel and long-term effective treatment option for patients, a safe, side-effect-free treatment method is now available. Spark Waves® stimulate tissue self-healing at the cellular and vascular levels. In this way, blood vessels are re-formed, promoting blood circulation and stimulating growth factors. This leads to an improvement of the erection function, to the pain relief, muscle relaxation and finally to the cure of the symptoms with chronic pain in the area of the pelvic floor. The treatment is carried out on an outpatient basis. It usually takes 4-6 sessions every 1-2 weeks. The duration of treatment is about 20 minutes per session. The therapy is painless for the patient. Anesthesia is not required. Side effects have not been observed so far. www.mts-medical.com

Improved early detection of cell changes in the prostate via elastography
- Elastography
What is Elastography?
Elastography is a method in the field of ultrasound diagnostics for the improved detection of cell changes in the prostate. In addition to depicting the internal structure of the prostate, elastography can also be used to make a tissue density measurement on areas suspected of being prostate-carcinoma. Thus, a targeted removal of tissue samples from a possibly “suspicious” area is possible. This is especially recommended for patients with a positive family history, that is, when prostate cancer has already occurred in the family because fewer tissue samples need to be taken than in the conventional procedure. Similarly, the method is recommended in men whose PSA value is increased when a previous prostate biopsy has not demonstrated any evidence of tumor cells. In this case, if persistently elevated PSA levels, a second biopsy using the elastography procedure is recommended for further clarification. See also →www.martini-klinik.de.
